The quick blog while I'm concious.

A quick post while I have the energy. Just a few details that some of my fellow mom friends wanted, and most of my readers can skip.

Again, skip this post if you don't want "too much information."

The lowdown on the labor:

I was in Stage I labor (dilated at 3cm) for about 12 days. To say it sucked would be the understatement of the year. On Sunday May 31 the Dr called and said I tested positive for pre-eclampsia so I needed to come in the next day at 9am to start the induction. So the husb and I showed up and got admitted at 9, then waded through hours of tests and questions until I got jacked up with the drugs necessary for induction around 2 pm. An IV in one arm had the drugs to combat the pre-eclampsia and administer the pitocin, and IV in the other had the goods necessary for the epidural. The epidural (I must say) was the most pleasant part of the whole ordeal. Not because of the relief it offered, but the anesthesiologist was the nicest guy ever and seriously made me feel like everything was going to work out just fine.

So it's labor time. For a long time. The next day (seriously) around 5pm the Dr comes in to check on me and I tell her I want to push. She looked surprised as hell, checked me out (only dilated to 7cm) but says to go for it. I pushed for 4 hours. I PUSHED FOR FOUR HOURS! Little Jacob, who decided that despite his status as "B" baby was going to come out first, was facing sideways and wouldn't fit through my pelvic bones. I have to give props to the Dr for trying her best to turn him around, but it just wasn't going to happen. So even with both babies in the head down position I was going to have to get ready for a c-section.

Now for the quick part. I got wheeled into the OR around 10:15, got some new drugs pumped into one of my IVs and at 10:38 little Jacob came out. One minute later Ava joined him and by 11:30 I was in recovery jazzed up on morphine. My hand to God I will never allow the administration of morphine again. It made me feel horrible and I'll lie and say I'm allergic to it before I let anyone hook me up to that stuff again. Luckily the staff listened to me and moved me to a different pain killer the next morning.

That's the quick labor post. Now it's off to be a mom to two demanding babies. More posts as I can manage.
