I will now be seeing the OB every two weeks. Woooooo! This last visit was for the gestational diabetes test (that every woman now gets it seems). I had to drink this stuff that tasted like flat orange soda then sit in the bloodwork lab for an hour before they drew blood and sent me on my way. (According to the side of the bottle it was supposed to be an incredibly sugary drink, but come on...Slurpees taste sweeter to me.) If I pass the test - my blood sugar being in a normal range after drinking the stuff - then I'm good to go. If I fail, or am borderline then I have to do another test, and this one for three hours. Lord mercy!
My blood pressure was still normal, and the nurse didn't say how much weight I've gained, but I think it's around 25-30 pounds. My stomach size is still measuring 8 weeks larger than I actually am and I'm feeling growth spurts from these two more and more frequently. I think I'm up to sleeping about 14 hours a day, but it's getting harder and harder to get comfortable. In the last couple of days my joints are killing me from my fingers and wrists down to my hips, knees and ankles but I'm assuming it's just the hormones coursing through relaxing all the cartilage. One good thing about staying home is that almost all swelling has gone away. My feet look fairly normal now except for being wider than normal (let's hope that goes back to the way it should be after all is done).
Ian and I took a Child and Infant CPR class at the hospital which was pretty cool. We'd both done the adult classes before but the child and infant are so different that I'd recommend it to everyone. I had a hard time leaning over the doll (of course my stomach was in the way!) but all in all it was a good class. I also took a tour of the Labor and Delivery wing of my hospital. It was the coolest thing ever! The L&D nurse took us through everything we'd do and every room we'd possibly be in from the time we get admitted to the time we are discharged. We got to suit up and go into the OR (which is where they'll make me deliver just in case there are any complications) and we got to go into the nursery where there were two little babies snoozing away. It was very surreal to think that I have two of those tiny little creatures inside of me. And that they're going to come out in the next two months. Gah!
Well, the lactation appointment is Monday morning where we'll try to figure out how to turn fun boobies into functional ones. Then another routine appointment the Tuesday following, but no ultrasound until May 1.
